Consequence

Abrupt change in wind speed and wind direction. It can be difficult to navigate due to snow, blowing snow and reduced visibility. Some journeys may have longer travel time. It can be locally difficult driving conditions due to heavy snowfall in combination with wind. The power supply may be impacted.

Advice

Be aware of abrupt weather changes. Avoid unnecessary journeys to exposed places. Consider whether the journey is necessary. Check road reports (175.no). Use tires fit for winter conditions and use caution while driving.

Description

Tuesday morning a polar low is located at 69 degrees north and 9 degrees east. Tuesday afternoon the low will hit the northern parts of Nordland and Troms, and banks outside Troms and Vesterålsbanken. It can blow brief northwest storm force 10 on the coast. Ahead of the low it can the blow southwest severe gale force 9 to storm force 10 into Vestfjorden. The low is expected to weaken during Tuesday evening.
