Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Monday 21.12.2020

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Wet avalanches can occur in the night, but the avalanche danger decrease quickly as it gets colder and the percipitation stops.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Sunday 20. December 2020

Mountain weather

Sunday 20. December 2020

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -9 °C to -2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 21. December 2020

Little to no precipitation. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the south during the afternoon. -7 °C to 0 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
