Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Saturday 05.03.2022

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Avalanches are possible to trigger in newly deposited wind slabs. The snow pack is considered stable elsewhere.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Friday 4. March 2022

Mountain weather

Friday 4. March 2022

3 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the south during the evening. -13 °C to -7 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 5. March 2022

4 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 200 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from south, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during renoon. -11 °C to -4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
