Persistent weak layer underneath wind slabs can be easy to trigger in the alpine. Loose snow avalanches can occur but the likelihood is decreasing.

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2). Remote triggering is possible.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Det er mykje snø og vinterleg i fjellet. Snøoverflata vekslar mellom fokksnø, skare og stadvis er det litt laus snø. I bratte solvendte heng og under mildvêrsgrensa kan snøen ha blitt fuktig på dagen og fryst om natta. På formiddagen mandag, når det kjem skyer og blir mildare, vil snøen bli fuktig høgare til fjells.

Høgt i snødekket finnast det kantkorn, både i overflata og rundt skare under fokksnø.
Det finnast også kantkorn djupare i snødekket, men desse er ikkje eit problem no.

Laurdag sprakk snøen opp ved påverknad ved Storebottskarvet. Sprekkene strakk seg nokre titalls meter.

Det kan vere mogleg å løyse ut flakskred enkelte stadar. Dette er fordi fokksnø framleis kan vere ustabil i tillegg til at den kan ligge like over vedvarande svake lag.

Faren for våte skred vil avta sidan det blir meir skyer.
