Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Thursday 05.05.2022

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

The danger is increasing due to rising temperatures and rain. Wet, naturally released avalanches are expected. In the alpine large dry wind slabs could release.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Mandag til onsdag var det snøbyger til havnivå.

Mandag ettermiddag/kveld var det kortvarig kraftig vind og stor snøtransport.

Det har vært store forskjeller i nysnømengde og vindstyrke innad i regionen.

Søndag var det er kortvarig mildvær til ca 800 moh.

Tirsdag morgen ble det observert små, tørre flak skred ved Mosjøen.

2-5 mm precipitation. Rain up to 300 m a.s.l during the evening. Breeze from west, changing to breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -10 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Thursday 5. May 2022

16 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from northeast, changing to strong breeze from the southwest during renoon. -3 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Skredfaren er stigende i takt med at sørvesten og mildværet melder sin ankomst.

Det vil trolig gå mange våte løssnøskred under mildværsgrensen.

Over skoggrensen ventes store naturlig utløste skred, både tørre og våte flakskred.
