Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Monday 21.03.2022

Increasing wind and snowfall will create locally unstable conditions in the alpine. In the lower areas, wet loose snow avalanches can occur early in the day before the temperature drops.

Nedbør og mildvær siste dager har gjennomfuktet snødekket under tregrensa. Opp mot 800 moh er snøen våt eller fuktig i varierende grad, og over dette rapporteres det om tørr snø.

Det er observert kantkorn over ca. 500 moh både rundt mildværsskare fra 23. januar og fra slutten av februar.

Et stort naturlig utløst flakskred gått fra ca 1000moh på Sorbmegaisa en en gang mellom lørdag ettermiddag og natt til søndag. Også endel små våte løssnøskred i dette området.

Kraftig snøfokk observert i høyden søndag formiddag. Vindpakket hard og tørr snø over 900 moh. Snødekket fuktes også der solen står på.

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 800 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from west, changing to moderate gale from the southwest during renoon. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 21. March 2022

1-3 mm precipitation. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during renoon. Gale from southwest, changing to gale from the west during the afternoon. -7 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Over mildværsgrensen vil vindøkning og litt nedbør skape ferske fokksnøflak som kan være lette å løse ut for skiløper.

Utover dagen synker temperaturen som gjør at det fuktige snødekket i lavlandet vil stabilisere seg noe. Men det kan likevel fortsatt være mulig å løse ut våte løssnøskred i heng her, og hvis solen tar godt kan noen skred løse ut naturlig.
