Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Tuesday 02.05.2023

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

A skier may trigger avalanches in the fresh slabs, which start to accumulate in the alpine. If the sun comes out in the afternoon, direct sunlight will weaken the fresh snow. Keep a safe distance to cornices.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Monday 1. May 2023

I helgen kom det noen centimetere med nysnø i fjellet. Etter kraftig vind på søndag ligger det trolig fokksnø i leområder i nord- og nordvestlige himmelretninger. Sol på mandag fukter snødekket i solvendt terreng på dagen.

I lavlandet er snøen gjennomfuktet. I fjellet begynner det å bli bart på rabber og rygger.

3-7 mm precipitation. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from north, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -12 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 2. May 2023

5 mm precipitation, up to 13 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from northwest. -11 °C to -4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Vind og nysnø på natten og utover dagen vil gi fokksnøflak i leområder. Det vil være lett å løse ut tørre skred i fokksnøen mens været står på.

Om solen kommer frem kan det myke opp fokksnøflakene og gjøre det enda lettere å løse ut skred.
