Wind deposited snow is the problem above the new snow line, lower down some naturally released wet avalanches can occur due to rain and rise in temperature.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

I fjellet har det de siste dagene lagt seg opp ferske fokksnøflak i leheng mot øst. Det gamle snødekket som ble vått onsdag og torsdag har fryst til i overflaten.

Onsdag ble det observert mange våte løssnøskred i regionen. Torsdag er det observert mange store naturlig utløste skred i regionen. Ved Joengfonna har det gått skred med store skredmasser. I fjellsidene ved Mannen har det gått både middels og store våte snøskred. I rennene under Holstind er det ferske skredmasser fra store skred.

2-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from west. -9 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Sunday 16. January 2022

20 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 700 m a.s.l Sunday night. Gale from west, changing to storm from the northwest during the evening. -11 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Store skred kan løsne av seg selv. Nysnø og svært kraftig vind fører til flakdannelse i sørøstvendte leheng. Skredfaren vil være størst fra formiddagen søndag.

Under mildværsgrensa kan det gå enkelte våte skred. Temperaturen er synkende gjennom dagen, så problemet med våte snøskred vil avta.
