You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Hele snøpakken er smelteomvandlet opp til ca. 700 moh etter mildvær. Videre opp har snøoverflaten vært våt eller fuktig til ca. 1200 moh. Høyt til fjells kan det i leområder ligge tørre flak av vindtransportert snø.

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 800 m a.s.l Thursday night. Fresh breeze from southwest. -9 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Friday 17. February 2023

15 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from south, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -9 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Fredag ventes etter hvert kuling fra nordvest med snøbyger. Dette gir raskt økende skredfare, og sørøst-vendte heng der vinden legger igjen fokksnø er mest utsatt. Bygevær gir store lokale variasjoner. En skiløper vil lett kunne løse ut skred der fokksnøen ligger som myke flak.
