Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Sunday 03.04.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be aware of fresh wind slabs. Avalanches can get big and are easiest to trigger when the weather hits. If the sun comes out, loose snow avalanches may trigger naturally, in steep terrain.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

New snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 2. April 2022

Primært over 800 moh.

Mountain weather

Saturday 2. April 2022

8 mm precipitation, up to 18 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 100 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the afternoon. -19 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Sunday 3. April 2022

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 100 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from west, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during renoon. -11 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
