Snøen er de fleste steder smelteomdannet og homogen, frossen i skyggesider og i høyda, våt i lavtliggende områder og der sola tar. Snøgrense varierer fra 50-400moh.

Snøen er likevel lagdelt høyt til fjells, og det finnes både harde skarelag der vann kan hope seg opp, og gamle kantkornlag dypt ned i snødekket og ved bakken.

Avalanche risk assessment

Generelt er det stabil snø. Mandag vil mildværsgrensa krype over fjelltoppene og det vil kunne føre til enkelte naturlig utløste våte løssnøskred, også høyt til fjells.

Dersom vann trenger ned til de gamle vedvarende svake laga og det kan gå store flakskred, og med økende temperaturer utover uka øker sannsynligheten for dette.
