Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Snøoverflaten er våt i alle områder og høyder etter mildvær og regn på lørdag.

Hva som er status på gamle vedvarende svake lag etter mildværet er noe usikkert.

Lørdag er det registret mange våte skred, både flakskred og løssnøskred.

3-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l Monday night. Strong breeze from southwest. -4 °C to 2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 22. March 2022

15 mm precipitation, up to 25 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 700 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southwest. -3 °C to 2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

En ny runde med nedbør i dag vil kunne danne ustabil fokksnøflak i enkelte leformasjoner høyt til fjells. Det ventes dog stor lokal variasjon i nedbørsmengde og der nedbøren ikke kommer vil skredfaren være lavere.

I lavlandet ble snødekket gjennomfuktet etter regn lørdag og tåler dagens nedbør godt. Vær likevel forsiktig i brattheng der snøen er svært våte og løs, her kan det fortsatt være mulig å utløse våte løssnøskred i dag.
