Published:
Late afternooen - Wet avalanches are likely at lower elevations. Use great caution on recently loaded slopes in the alpine.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Wednesday 29. December 2021

Mountain weather

Wednesday 29. December 2021

No precipitation. Breeze from southwest. -15 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Thursday 30. December 2021

6 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the evening. Strong breeze from southwest. -8 °C to -2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
