Avalanches are easy to trigger when the weather hits. Naturally released wet avalanches may occur.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det har kommet mye snø den siste tiden og det er nå mer snø enn vanlig for årstiden. Kraftig vind fra sør, sørvest og vest har gitt et vindpåvirket snødekke, og mye snø i leheng mot øst og nord. Utsatte rygger er avblåst til skare. Beskyttede områder har myk snø. I skogen er det myk snø, fuktig og tung der mildværet har tatt.

14 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 200 m a.s.l during renoon. Moderate gale from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -10 °C to -4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 8. February 2022

15 mm precipitation, up to 25 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l Tuesday night. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -9 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Mildvær, noe nedbør og kraftig vind fra sørvest gir økt skredfare! Fare for naturlig utløste våte skred i lavlandet.

Det ligger mye snø i leheng mot øst og nord. Mildere vær og økt pålagring gjør at det vil være lett å løse ut skred og det kan også gå naturlig utløste skred.

Regn opp til 500 moh. natt til tirsdag gir økt fare for naturlig utløste våte skred under mildværsgrensen. Særlig natt til tirsdag og tirsdag formiddag. Mye snø helt ned i lavlandet gjør at veier kan være utsatte.

Milde temperaturer gjør at snødekket vil stabilisere seg raskt, og noen steder vil snødekket oppleves som relativt stabilt, men det vil være mye vær i fjellet.
