Avalanche warning for region Tromsø Saturday 04.05.2024

As the temperatures decreases, snow at higher altitudes will refreeze and become more stable. In steeper terrain where the snow is particularly wet, it may still be possible to trigger small avalanches. Keep a safe distance to cornices and glide cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Mildvær og tidvis regn på torsdag og fredag har påvirket snøoverflaten i alle himmelretninger, selv høyt til fjells. Under ca 400 moh er det førefall i sørvendt terreng, med vått og "råttent" snødekke. Det er stedvis lite snø under 200 moh.

Onsdag ble det registrert et lite vått løssnøskred i Grøtfjorden.

8-9 mm precipitation. Precipitation as rain. Breeze from west. -1 °C to 5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 4. May 2024

2-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l Saturday night. Breeze from west. -4 °C to 3 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Det er ventet synkende temperaturer i løpet av dagen, og snødekket i høyden vil fryse til. I lavlandet kan det fortsatt være lett å løse ut små løssnøskred der det finnes mye våt snø.

Vær fortsatt oppmerksom på skavler og glidesprekker og hold god avstand. Det er vanskelig å forutse når det skjer et skavlbrudd og når glideskredene går.
