Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Tuesday 11.04.2023

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

The avalanche danger varies during the day. The danger is at its highest in steep sun-exposed slopes and in the afternoon when the air temperature is high. Avoid cornices and terrain beneath.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

I helgen kom det litt nysnø i fjellet, som nå har blitt fuktig i sørvendt terreng, men i nordvent terreng er snøoverflaten tørr over ca 600-800 moh. Under ca 600 moh er snøoverflaten våt av mildvær og regn. Klarvær om natten fører til skare på overflaten mange steder.

Kantkornlaget under mildværsskare fra begynnelsen av mars er fortsatt intakt, men er stort sett svært vanskelig å påvirke.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren vil variere i takt med solinnstrålingen gjennom dagen. Våte skred kan løsne av seg selv i bratte solvendte heng, og enkelte kan bli middels store.

Nattestid og i skyggen vil snødekket fryse på og bli stabilt.

Unngå skavler og terreng under skavler.
