Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Saturday 25.05.2024

Limited forecasts due to strike.
Generally stable conditions. The snow surface in the mountain will refreeze due to lower temperatures. Be careful in steep terrain at lower altitudes if the snow is wet and loose. If so, it could be possible to trigger small wet loose avalanches.

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snødekket er i all hovedsak smelteomvandlet og gjennomfuktet, og smeltes fort. Nysnøen fra starten av uken har blitt fuktet opp også høyt til fjells. I lavere strøk og rundt framstikkende steiner er snøen råtten.

3-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l Friday night. Moderate gale from west, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -5 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 25. May 2024

1-3 mm precipitation. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l during the evening. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the evening. -6 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Generelt stabile forhold og ikke noe utpreget skredproblem.

Med kaldere vær og vind fra nordvest ventes det at snøoverflaten er igjenfrosset. Der snøoverflata er er våt, vil det være mulig å løse ut små, våte skred.

Det ventes ikke nok nysnø til å gi nye skredproblem i løpet av lørdag.
