Debris avalanches, debris flows and slush slides warning yellow level for Vestland, Rogaland and western parts of Agder

2

Yellow level

Published: Valid: from 22.11.2023 07:00 to 23.11.2023 06:59
Next forecast before:
  • Danger ongoing: Wednesday morning 22. Nov. 2023
  • Danger decrease: Thursday afternoon 23. Nov. 2023
  • Height: 0 - 1000 moh

Consequence

Landslides may be expected. Exposed railways and roads may be closed. Debris flows may reach the valley bottom even if they are triggered high in the terrain.

Advice

Keep away from steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge. Keep water paths and culverts free of snow, ice, gravel, waste, twigs and leaves. Clogged waterways with dammed water may cause landslides.

Description

Risk of slushflows is especially high in areas that already has snow. Slushflows are triggered even in relatively gentle slopes, where water accumulates. Slushflows follow terrain depressions and may develop into debris flows. Steep slopes, as well as streams and rivers with high discharge, are particularly exposed. Heavy rain is expected.
