Snow, yellow level (MET)

Published: Valid: from 24.12.2023 12:00 to 26.12.2023 06:00

Warning

Snow

Consequence

Vulnerable infrastructure can be affected due to accumulation of snow. Travel time may increase on some journeys. Local driving conditions may become difficult. Blowing snow at higher altitudes causes reduced visibility and possibly convoys and/or closed roads.

Advice

Vulnerable installations and objects should be protected. Allow some extra time for transportation and driving. Use tires fit for winter conditions and use caution while driving. The need for emergency preparedness shall be assessed continuously by emergency response actors.

Description

From Monday, Christmas Day until Tuesday morning, snow is still expected in parts of Vestland. There are showers of snow and there will be large local differences in how much snow falls. Locally, 10-20 cm of snow is expected in 24 hours. Below 200-400 m the precipitation can come as sleet. At higher altitudes, more snow may fall.
