Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Saturday 16.04.2022

Be careful in areas with fresh wind deposited snow. There may be pockets with a persistent weak layer beneath the wind depposited snow. Natural avalanche activity is expected at lower elevation due to increasing temperatures and rain.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2). Remote triggering is possible.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

De siste dagene har gitt noe påfyll av nysnø i fjellet, men mange steder er snøoverflaten ujevnt fordelt, avblåst til smelteformer som enten er gjenfryst til skare eller fuktet av sol og mildvær. I lavlandet er snøen fuktet mange steder.

Ved Indre Billefjord, samt i naboregionen, ble det forrige uke observert begynnende kantkornutvikling i overgangen mellom tørr snø og eldre smelteomvandlet snø (skare).

1 mm precipitation, up to 6 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 300 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from west, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -6 °C to -2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 16. April 2022

2 mm precipitation, up to 9 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to gale from the west during the afternoon. -5 °C to 0 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

I høyden vil nysnø og vind danne ferske ustabile flak i leheng som vil være lett å løse ut.

Der nedbøren kommer som regn kan det gå noen naturlig utløste skred. Det kan bli både løssnøskred, men også flakskred i den ferske snøen fra de siste dagene eller i dypere svake lag, og disse kan bli opp til middels store.
