Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Wet avalanches may occur when the sun comes out.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Sunday 23. April 2023

Mountain weather

Sunday 23. April 2023

5 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during the evening. -10 °C to -5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 24. April 2023

1-3 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -14 °C to -4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Perioder med sol utover dagen vil løse ut våte skred i solvendte, bratte fjellsider. Fare for slike skred vil følge solinnstrålingen.
