Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Tuesday 02.01.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally safe avalanche conditions. There is a persistent weak layer at the ground that can be triggered where the snowpack is thin.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Buried weak layer of faceted snow near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 1. January 2024

Truleg mest i indre strôk.

Mountain weather

Monday 1. January 2024

No precipitation. Fresh breeze from southwest. -23 °C to -13 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 2. January 2024

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from southwest. -25 °C to -12 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
