Avalanche warning for region Hallingdal Friday 05.04.2019

Favorable conditions. Small loose wet avalanches associated with rising temperatures and solar heating can occur. Risk of wind-deposited snow above 1400 masl.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

I vindutsatt og vestvendt terreng det lite snø og avblåst ned til gammel skare. I østvendt terreng ligger det godt med snø, og i skjerma formasjoner tørr myk snø som gir bedre skiføre. Den gamle snøpakken er prega av mildvær, nedbør og hard vind. I lavlandet er varmen i ferd med å omdanne snøen til grovkorna og snømengden generelt har minket en god del siste uke.

Det er observasjoner på tykke kantkornlag under tykke, bærende skarelag.

Avalanche risk assessment

Temperaturstigning og soloppvarming kan utpå dagen føre til små naturlig utløste våte skred i noen få heng, særlig i solutsatt bratt terreng med bart fjell eller vegetasjon dersom sola stikker gjennom.

Det skal i hovedsak mye til for å løse ut skred i fokksnø i østvendt terreng, begrenset til få heng vest i regionen.
