Avalanche warning for region Hardanger Wednesday 04.03.2020

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger here.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det er mykje snø i fjellområda i regionen. Snøen er normalt fordelt med mest i nordaustlege, austlege og søraustlege leområder.
Det er store skavlar og vindformasjonar i terrenget.
Det eldre snødekket er smelteomvandla etter mildvêr og gjenfrysing.

Avalanche risk assessment

Eldre fokksnøflak trenger fortsatt noe tid til stabilisering. I enkelte områder kan det bli litt påfyll av nysnø med noe vind. Vær forsiktig i områder med ferske fokksnøflak. Skiftende vindretning vil kunne gi dannelse av fokksnøflak i flere himmelretinger.

Det er forhold for glideskred i enkeltheng, vær spesielt oppmerksom på dette i områder med glidesprekker.
