Avalanche warning for region Heiane Friday 22.03.2019

Wet natural avalanches possible. The avalanche danger stays at the same level as long as the rain continues. Be careful in avalanche release and run out areas.

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snøen er prega av varme og vind til topps. I høgda er det meir finkorna og lagdelt, medan i låglandet er snøen i ferd med å bli grovkorna.

Torsdag er det registrert fleire våte middels store skred.

Det er stort sett bart i låglandet, og meget våt snø i høgda.

15 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during the evening. -2 °C to 4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 22. March 2019

10 mm precipitation, up to 18 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from south, changing to strong breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -2 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Kraftig vind og nedbør, hovudsakleg som regn, vil kortvarig svekke bindingar i snødekket og gi fare for våte skred. Nysnø på dei høgaste toppane, men den er truleg såpass våt at vindtransporten blir avgrensa og fokksnømengdene blir moderate.
