Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Thursday 19.04.2018

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

Expect wet avalanches due to rain and high temperatures. There are well-defined persistent weak layers buried in the snowpack that can cause large avalanches. Keep good distance to avalanche terrain and run out zones for wet avalanches.

You can very easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a large truck or destroy several houses (size 4).

Varselet er basert på et enklere datagrunnlag enn regionale varsler og utgis kun for faregrad 4 og 5.
Snødekkeoppbygningen er dårlig i hele Nord-Norge. Nedbør, mildvær og fravær av nattefrost vil øke faren for at de dype vedvarende svake lagene blir svekket slik at store våte naturlig utløste skred kan gå.
Vær oppmerksom på at skavler eller mindre våte løssnøskred kan utløse større skred.
Husk også på at i høyfjellet hvor snøen fortsatt er tørr kan skiløper påvirke/ fjernutløse tørre flakskred.
