Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Friday 29.03.2019

Demanding conditions, avoid areas with fresh wind deposited snow. It is also possible to trigger a persistant weak layer in the old snow in bowls and gullies, in all alpine expositions.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

25 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Gale from west. -6 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Varslet er basert på et enklere datagrunnlag enn regionale varsler og utgis kun for faregrad 4 og 5. Fortsatt mye vær fra vest gir utfordrende skredforhold. Gradvis kaldere temperaturer gjør at nedbøren går over fra regn til snø. Mye vind vil flytte snøen inn i leområder som vender mot øst og danne store ansamlinger av fokksnø over skoggrensa. Etter det kraftige mildværet torsdag, vil det være mye vann i snødekket og det kan i enkelte tilfeller ta litt ekstra tid for regnet trenger ned til kantkornlaget, så vi kan ikke utelukke et og annet større skred på kantkorn.
