Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Monday 01.04.2019

Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

Dangerous avalanche conditions due to large amounts of new snow and strong winds. Natural avalanches are likely. Avoid avalanche terrain.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Torsdag denne uka kom det inn et skikkelig mildvær med mye regn (over 70mm) opptil 1000 moh med dels kraftig vind fra vest. Siden da har det kommet jevne påfyll av snø med byger. 40-50 cm nysnø flere steder. Særlig i fjellet øst i regionen.

25 mm precipitation, up to 50 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from southwest. -8 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Svært mye løs snø i terrenget og mer snø med bygevær fra sør-vest gir mulighet for naturlig utløste store skred der det ligger mest snø. Særlig utsatt er terreng i høyden som ikke får plussgrader. Der det ligger mindre snø eller der bygene ikke slipper ny snø, er faren for skred mindre.
