It might be easy to trigger avalanches in the fresh wind slabs. Wind from NW will create unstable windslabs in the morning, while wind from SE will create storm slabs in other aspects in the afternoon.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Mildværet i starten av uken gikk høyt og opp til 500-600 moh ble snødekket gjennomfuktet. Kaldere vær fra midten av uken har ført til at den fuktige snøoverflaten har frosset til, og skapt panser-skare i toppen. Du må trolig svært høyt til fjells (1000 moh) for at snødekket ikke skal være påvirket av mildværet.

Det er meldt om flere sørpeskred på E6 i Hemnes tirsdag og onsdag morgen.

10 mm precipitation, up to 28 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l during the evening. Breeze from northwest, changing to moderate gale from the northwest during the afternoon. -7 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 12. January 2024

12 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the evening. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -8 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Nysnø og vind fra NV gjennom natten vil ha lagt opp ferske flak av fokksnø i leområder. Om du er ute på en morgen- og formiddagstur, kan det være lett å løse ut skred i øst og sørøstvendt terreng. Vær på vakt om fokksnøen sprekker opp rundt skiene.

Utover formiddagen roer været seg, før det begynner å snø igjen utover ettermiddagen. Vind fra sør og sørvest, vil legge opp nye flak i andre leområder. Er du på kveldstur, så unngå de områdene hvor du ser vinden legger igjen snø.
