Avalanche Danger Assessment
• In general stable conditions has been observed. Some fresh snow might make small slabs in altitude, and the PWL is still present and although generally isolated under strong slabs it needs attention especially south, east and west in the region, and although hard to trigger, the consequences of an avalanche on this could be critica. Where the snow surface is even, the skiing is good, but there are reports of sastrugi in the north. In the south of the region some loose snow is still to be found in the forest on the northern aspects.
• The small amount of new snow forecasted might increase the avalanche danger, mostly in higher elevations. The new snow is expected to bond weakly to the old “warm” snowpack. The development is much dependent on the amount of new snow.
• The strategic mindset is “stepping out, with caution” to observe how much new snow has come and how the wind has affected it. Also the old PWL is still to be taken into consideration and it appears more percent south in the region.
We note a hard snow surface in general and ice / sastrugi in places making falling/sliding a considerable risk.
