Avalanche Danger Assessment
• A warm day in the mountains, 5°C at 900 masl above Lyngseidet. Observation of many spontaneous avalanches in several aspects in Steindalen during the day. Good skiing above 750 masl and lower in the terrain where the snow surface is transformed to large grains, and the snow has been compacted from skiing during the season. • The chance of a clear night/morning will stabilize the situation somewhat, but keep an eye on the warming in the southern aspects during the day. At height, where the snow is not transformed, both windslabs and PWL will still represent a problem. • The strategic mindset is “Status quo” up to 1000 masl. Above that, we are now back to “Assessment”, as there are to little information about the situation after the significant shifts in the weather the last week.
Be aware of knee wrecking snow below the treeline, stay in the frequently skied trails through the forest.
