Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Thursday 21.04.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Avalanches can occur in steep terrain where the snow is wet. Colder temperatures will have a stabilizing effect on the snowpack elsewhere.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of faceted snow above a crust

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Wednesday 20. April 2022

Snøoverflata vil no fryse over mildvêrsgrensa.

Mountain weather

Wednesday 20. April 2022

No precipitation. Breeze from west. -5 °C to 5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Thursday 21. April 2022

2-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during renoon. Fresh breeze from west. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Over mildvêrsgrensa vil det generelt vere stabil snø.
