You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det gamle snødekket består av knallhard fokksnø og skare. Over dette er det løssnø eller fersk fokksnø fra de siste dagene.

Det måles stor forskjell mellom overflatetemperatur og lufttemperatur på målestasjoner i regionen, dette kan føre til dannelse av overflatekantkorn.

No precipitation. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to breeze from the northeast during the afternoon. -23 °C to -12 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 3. April 2024

2 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from southwest, changing to breeze from the north during the afternoon. -25 °C to -10 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Du kan løse ut skred der det har lagt seg fokksnøflak. Skiftende vindretning gjør at fokksnøen kan legge seg i alle himmelretninger.

Vær også obs på at det andre steder i Nordland har blitt observert et svakt lag av rim under fokksnøen. Finnes dette også i Ofoten kan det være svært lett å løse ut skred, også på avstand.
