Avalanche warning for region Romsdal Sunday 29.05.2022

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Use caution in areas with recently formed wind slabs. Below the rain line small wet avalanches can be dangerous in exposed terrain and around terrain traps.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Etter flere dager med mildvær høyt til fjells og fravær av nattefrost består snøoverflaten stort sett av våt eller fuktig smelteomvandlet snø med unntak av de høyeste toppene.
Over tregrensa er det fortsatt mye snø for årstiden.

12 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1300 m a.s.l Saturday night. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Sunday 29. May 2022

10 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to calm/light breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Under mildværsgrensen vil det bli opphopning av vann i snødekket som følge av regn. Det ventes enkelte naturlig utløste våte løssnøskred i bratte heng. På de høyeste fjellene i indre deler av regionen vil det kunne legge seg opp ferske fokksnøflak.

Unngå ferdsel under glidesprekker, da glideskred er uforutsigbare og kan løsne av seg selv hele døgnet.
