Avalanche warning for region Romsdal Friday 05.04.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Locally unstable. A persistent weak layer of facets is present in northern aspects in the alpine. Windslabs from wednesday is stablizing. Where the sun hits, small avalanches may trigger naturally.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Poor bonding between layers in wind deposited snow

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Kraftig snøfokk torsdag har lagt snø i le for sørøst. Ellers er det relativt hardt snødekke og gjenfrosset under 800moh.

I nordvendte terrengformasjoner over 1300 moh er det observert lag av kantkorn høyt i snødekket.

2-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 100 m a.s.l during renoon. Fresh breeze from southeast. -12 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Friday 5. April 2024

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from southwest. -15 °C to -4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Mye snøfokk torsdag gjør at en skiløper kan løsne små skred i fjellet. I nordvendt terreng, på de høyeste toppene kan det ligge svake lag av kantkorn og rim høyt i snødekket. Det kan ikke utelukkes at det er mulig å påvirke disse lagene noen få steder.
Der sola får tak kan små skred løsne av seg selv i bratt terreng.
