Avalanche warning for region Salten Monday 17.04.2023

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Generally stable conditions, but if the snow is soft and wet you can trigger wet avalanches in steep terrain. Be aware in sun-exposed aspects for natural triggered avalanches. Glide avalanches are possible. Keep distance to cornices and glide-cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Snødekket består av variert gammel snø. I lavlandet er snøen fuktig/våt. I fjellet kan det være hard fokksnø, avblåst til gamle skarelag eller våt løssnø. Hvis det er nattefrost fryser snøoverflaten til skare, som kan tine utover dagen.

Der det har vært vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn i snødekket er de i ferd med å avrundes. Det kan like fullt ikke utelukkes at det i nordsidene, høyt til fjells i indre deler av regionen, finnes vedvarende svake lag i snødekket som er mer intakte.

Avalanche risk assessment

Generelt stabile forhold og liten skredfare. I bratt terreng hvor snøen er myk og fuktig kan det være mulig å løse ut våte løssnøskred.
Små naturlig utløste skred kan forekomme i terreng som får mye solinnstråling.
Hold god avstand til områder under glidesprekker, og til skavler som svekkes i mildværet.
