Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Monday 23.05.2022

Be careful on steep slopes with soft and wet snow, a skier can trigger avalanches here. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

I nordvendte heng over 1000 moh ligg det framleis turr og lagdelt snø. Elles er snødekket stort sett smelteomvandla og stabilt.
Det er framleis mykje snø i fjellet. Snøgrensa stig gradvis og mot tregrensa, høgast mot sør.

På Strynefjellet gjekk det eit stort glideskred søndag. I Byksefonna øvst i Valldal gjekk det to glideskred torsdag.

6-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from southeast. 1 °C to 8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Høge temperaturar og regn gjer at snøoverflata framleis vil vere mjuk og laus, og det vil vere mogeleg å løyse ut våte skred i bratt terreng. Skred kan også løysne naturleg. Skavlar vert svekka i varmen.
Glideskred kan løysne av seg sjølv heile døgnet. Unngå opphald under glidsprekker.
