Avalanche warning for region Sør-Troms Monday 06.01.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Rising temperatures and rain on snow may cause smaller naturally released avalanches up to around treeline. In the alpine wind slabs are possible to trigger by a single skier.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Fredag og lørdag har det kommet tørr nysnø i kombinasjon med vind, kraftigst fra NV-N på lørdagen.

Snødekket er trolig ujevnt fordelt med fokksnø i forsenkninger og det er avblåst ned til mildværsskaren andre steder.

Søndag kveld er det trolig en markant temperaturstigning.

Flere runder med mildvær den siste tiden har gjennomfuktet det gamle snødekket omtrent til ca. 900 moh.

Det er lite snø i lavlandet.

2 mm precipitation, up to 24 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -10 °C to -4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 6. January 2020

8-10 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the evening. -4 °C to 1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Etter et par dager med kjølig vær blir det mildt igjen. Nedbør som regn kan gi naturlig våte utløste skred i lavlandet. I høyfjellet vil det på nytt bli pålagring av fokksnø i leområder. Etter vind fra skiftende retninger finnes fokksnøen i flere himmelretninger. Bygevær fra NV kan ha gitt lokalt store forskjeller i hvor mye som har kommet.

Mildværsgrensen øker gjennom dagen og blir opp mot 800 moh på kvelden.
