Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Wind slabs can be present in lee areas in the north and east aspect. Persistent weak layers are present above 1000 masl, but is difficult to trigger.

Avalanche problems

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 24. April 2018

Mountain weather

Tuesday 24. April 2018

2-5 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from southwest. -4 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 25. April 2018

2-5 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from west, changing to breeze from the west during the afternoon. -7 °C to -1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
