The avalanche danger varies during the day. The danger is at its highest in steep sun exposed slopes and in the afternoon when the air temperature is high.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Sol og høye dagtemperaturer gjør at snøen i solutsatt terreng fuktes opp om dagen, og kalde nattetemperaturer gjør at det våte snødekket fryser til om natten. I skyggefullt terreng består snøoverflaten i hovedsak av harde og igjenfrosset smelteformer.

Det er observert kantkorn over rundt 500 moh både rundt mildværsskare fra 23. januar og fra 27. februar. De anses ikke være et skredproblem per nå.

Avalanche risk assessment

Fortsatt mildvær og rolig forhold gir liten endring i skredfaren. Nattefrost har virket stabiliserende på snødekke, men når temperaturen stiger utover dagen vil det fortsatt være lett å løse ut skred i den våte snøen. Hvis sola tar tak kan små skred løsne av seg selv. Vær også oppmerksom på skavler som kan knekke grunnet høye temperaturer.
