Avalanche warning for region Tromsø Thursday 19.05.2022

Be careful in sun-exposed steep slopes and in high north facing areas with dry wind slabs. Natural released avlanches can occur.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

I starten av uken kom det en del snø og blåste godt i fjellet. På Kattfjordeidet meldes det om 30 cm nynsø tirsdag kveld. Under ca 500 moh er snøen mer fuktig.

Søndag ble en person tatt av et middels stort vått løssnøskred på Kattfjordeidet.

Lite snø i skogen og opp til ca 200m.

No precipitation. Breeze from southeast. -8 °C to 5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Avalanche risk assessment

Torsdag ser det ut til å klarne skikkelig opp, og det blir mildere. Der solen tar mest vil det kunne gå naturlig utløste skred, både i lavlandet og i nysnøen i fjellet. Fokksnøflakene vil stabilisere seg gradvis videre, men kan fortsatt i enkelte få heng være mulig å løse ut. Vær også forsiktig i nærheten av skavler.
