You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

I lavlandet og i sørvendte fjellsider er snøoverflaten smelteomvandlet. Klarvær om natten fører til skare på overflaten mange steder, som mykes opp der sola skinner om dagen. I nordvent terreng er snøoverflaten tørr over ca 800 moh.

I slutten av mars føyket det ned et lag av kantkorn og det gikk mange skred. Disse svake lagene antas nå å ha stabilisert seg.
Kantkornlaget under mildværsskare fra begynnelsen av mars er fortsatt intakt, men er generelt svært vanskelig å påvirke. 

Den siste uka har det gått endel våte løssnøskred. Onsdag ble et vått flakskred utløst av skavlbrudd ved skoggrensen på Kattfjordeidet.

3-5 mm precipitation. Rain up to 700 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -2 °C to 4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 17. April 2023

5-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southwest. -1 °C to 3 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren følger ikke lenger solen. Overskyet vær, plussgrader og litt nedbør føre til at snødekket forblir mykt gjennom større deler av døgnet. Det kan være lett å løse ut våte skred i svært bratt terreng der snøen er myk og fuktig.
