Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Saturday 23.04.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
The danger rises when the temperature rises. Wet avalanches can release in steep terrain in lower areas and in sun exposed slopes where the sun comes out. Wind slabs are a problem at high elevations.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Friday 22. April 2022

Mountain weather

Friday 22. April 2022

2-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 400 m a.s.l during renoon. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -5 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Saturday 23. April 2022

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -7 °C to -1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Mildere temperaturer og potensielt noe sol vil øke skredfaren igjen. Enkelte naturlig skred kan forekomme i gårsdagens nysnø, eller lavere i terrenget der snøen er våt nok.
