Avalanche warning for region Vest-Telemark Sunday 28.04.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Wet natural avalanches possible. The avalanche danger stays at the same level as long as the rain continues. Be careful in avalanche release and run out areas.
  • The danger is greatest from Sunday afternoon

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Water pooling in/above snow layers

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Sunday 28. April 2024

9 mm precipitation, up to 14 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1400 m a.s.l during the evening. Fresh breeze from east, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -6 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
