Avalanche warning for region Voss Monday 08.03.2021

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger here.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Fredag og lørdag kom det 10-20 cm ny snø, mest i Stølsheimen. Den nye snøen kom med tidvis kraftig vind fra nordvest i høyden og la seg over et snødekket som har vært smelteomvandlet og gjenfrosset opp til ca 1100 moh.

Observasjon rundt 1400 moh. i Aurland viste at svakt lag av kantkorn dannet i kuldeperioden i januar-februar fremdeles kan være intakt i høyfjellet.

No precipitation. Breeze from southwest. -10 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Lørdagens fokksnøflak vil stabilisere seg og det blir gradvis færre steder det er mulig å påvirke flakene fra. Mest utsatt er heng mot S-SØ-Ø. Her vil en skiløper kunne løse ut middel store skred.

Høyt til fjells i den østlige delen av regionen som rundt Raundalen og Nærøydalen kan det finnes svakt klag av kantkorn som fortsatt kan påvirkes.
