Avalanche warning for region Voss Monday 16.05.2022

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

High temperature and sun elevates the danger of wet avalanches. Be careful with recently formed wind slabs at high elevations. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Snødekket er preget av mye regn de siste dagene og er smelteomdannet og homogent. Over ca 1000 moh har nedbøren periodevis kommet som snø. Rundt de høyeste toppene kan det ikke utelukkes at det ligger over 50 cm nysnø. I nordhellinger høyt til fjells kan det fortsatt finnes lagdelt vintersnø.

I fjellet er det fortsatt mye snø. Snøgrensa nærmer seg tregrensa mange steder, høyest i bratt sørvendt.

Det ble observert mange våte løssnøskred på Vikafjellet lørdag.

No precipitation. Calm/light breeze from east. -1 °C to 11 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Avalanche risk assessment

Solvendte heng ventes å få våt overflate utover dagen til fjelltopphøyde. Der det ligger nysnø fra de siste dagene som blir våt for første gang, kan middels store løssnøskred løsne naturlig.

Fokksnøflakene i høyfjellet stabiliseres ytterligere og ventes å kunne påvirkes bare rundt de høyeste toppene.
Hold god avstand til alle skavler, de er større enn vanlig og kan lett knekke.

Glideskred er uforutsigbare og kan løsne av seg selv hele døgnet. Unngå opphold under glidesprekker.
