Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Sunday 26.02.2023

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be aware of isolated wind slabs, otherwise stable conditions.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 25. February 2023

Mountain weather

Saturday 25. February 2023

0 mm precipitation, up to 5 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from southeast. -20 °C to -9 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Sunday 26. February 2023

2-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 200 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Strong breeze from south, changing to fresh breeze from the west during the afternoon. -17 °C to -2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
