Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Wednesday 12.04.2023

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

When the sun comes out, the danger will rise to 2-moderate in areas where the snow becomes wet and soft. Be aware in steep lee areas in higher elevations, small dry wind slabs are possible to release. Be careful close to and in terrain traps.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

I ytre strøk har det vært mildvær og kommet litt nedbør som regn de siste dagene og snødekket er stort sett gjennomfuktet og stabilt.
I sørlige deler av regionen har det kommet litt nysnø på de høyeste toppene, og i nordvendt terreng over 400-600 moh er nok snøoverflaten fortsatt tørr.

Kantkornlag ved bakken og under mildværsskare fra begynnelsen av mars er fortsatt intakt noen steder, men er generelt svært vanskelig å påvirke.

Søndag ble det observert noen små våte løssnøskred.

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from west, changing to breeze from the east during the evening. -10 °C to -1 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Wednesday 12. April 2023

No precipitation. Strong breeze from southeast. -8 °C to -4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Clear skies.

Avalanche risk assessment

Skredfaren vil variere i takt med solinnstrålingen gjennom dagen. Små våte løssnøskred kan løsne av seg selv i bratte solvendte heng.
Nattestid og i skyggen vil snødekket fryse på og bli stabilt.
Unngå skavler og terreng under skavler.
Økende vind kan flytte på litt snø høyt til fjells og lage ustabile fokksnøflak.
