Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Sunday 28.04.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
A moist or wet snow surface, pinwheeling and natural releases are all indicators of a weakening snowpack due to direct sun exposure. Adjust your travel plans accordingly and remember also small sluff can be dangerous over terrain traps. Avoid crossing underneath cornices and stepping out onto them on tops and ridges.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 27. April 2024

Mountain weather

Saturday 27. April 2024

Little to no precipitation. Fresh breeze from east. -7 °C to -3 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Sunday 28. April 2024

No precipitation. Breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -8 °C to -3 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
