Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Mildvær og regn de siste dagne har gitt en snøoverflate med smelteomvandlet snø. Før mildværet onsdag og torsdag var regionen for det meste snødekket fra omkring 300 moh, men mye av terrenget var kun dekket av det siste snøfallet.

4-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1300 m a.s.l Friday night. Gale from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -7 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Saturday 15. January 2022

3-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southwest. -8 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Enkelte våte skred kan løsne av seg selv. De ekstreme nedbørsmengdene som regn og de høye temperaturene onsdag og torsdag ga økt snøsmelting. Det kan ta tid før vann trenger ned til svake lag eller bunnen av snødekket i høyt til fjells. Denne forsinkelsesprosessen gjør at enkelte store våte flakskred kan løsne av seg selv også etter at lufttemperaturen har blitt under null grader.
